Taking medication with CBD
If you are taking medication and considering starting to take CBD please talk to your doctor to check out any possible drug interactions. There are certain absolute no go medications such as:
- Immunosuppressants
- Blood thinners - Warfarin
- Heart rhythm medication - Amiodarone
- Thyroid medication - Levothyroxine
- Several medications for seizure, including clobazam, lamotrigine, and valproate.
Researchers at Penn State College of Medicine carried out extensive research in April 2020 on five prescription CBD and delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) cannabinoid medications. They found adverse interactions with 57 medications on this list.
It is unclear if these reactions relate to the CBD or the THC, but if you are taking any of the following medications you must not take CBD without first discussing with your doctor.
